Public Safety

Public Safety can be studied at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Communiversity. The preferred associate degree for each bachelor’s degree is located at the end of the program description.

BA Criminal Justice, offered by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

The Criminal Justice Program (BA) is offered through the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences (New Brunswick). The program is a comprehensive interdisciplinary program that blends a strong liberal arts education experience with pre-professional instruction in the field of criminal justice. The program provides students with a rich understanding of crime and criminal justice in the United States and abroad. Graduates of the program are well-informed citizens on the subject of crime and justice, and are qualified for graduate study or for employment as practitioners in a variety of legal, policy-making, and law enforcement areas. Students with an earned associate degree (AA or AS only) from any accredited community college are eligible to apply to the Criminal Justice program. BS Criminal Justice, offered by New Jersey City University

The Criminal Justice BS combines professional studies in the fields of criminal justice. The degree program is designed for individuals who are either involved in the fields of criminal justice and juvenile justice, or those who seek careers in these fields. This is the only criminal justice program in New Jersey that has undergone a satisfactory Program Review by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. BS Fire Science, offered by New Jersey City University

The Fire Science Program is the only university-based bachelor’s degree program in the State of New Jersey. This progressive, student-centered program is designed specifically to maximize student-learning, professional success, and career advancement. The curriculum is composed of courses recognized as pertinent for the comprehensive development of today’s firefighter. BS National Security Studies, offered by New Jersey City University

The National Security Program is designed for individuals interested in the field of federal, state and local law enforcement, cyber security, and security management. The National Security Studies Department is a National Center of Academic Excellence recognized by the Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency, and offers the only degree of its kind in the State of New Jersey. Accelerated Criminal Justice/National Security Studies Dual Admit Program with Brookdale Community College and NJCU

Earn an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice degree at Brookdale and a Bachelor of Science at Communiversity-NJCU in just three years. You may even complete a Master of Science in National Security Studies through the Accelerated Program in four years at the Communiversity Campus in Wall. MS National Security Studies offered by New Jersey City University

This master’s program allows students to specialize in three distinct areas:

  • National Security: Develop the ability to analyze the global complexities and implications of National Security policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Corporate Security: Develop the ability to analyze and synthesize organizational continuity, emergency response and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Information Assurance/Cyber Security: Develop the ability to analyze and apply principles of informational assurance/cyber security.
