Commencement Information for guests
Brookdale Community College’s commencement ceremonies take place in the Robert Collins Arena on the Lincroft campus. Parking is available in lots 6, 7 and 1. Directions to the campus, and the arena may be found here. Collins Arena doors for guest will open one hour before each ceremony, that’s 9 AM for the morning and 2 PM for the afternoon. Ceremonies start promptly at 10 AM and 3 PM so please allow time for parking, travel to the arena and finding your seats. All guest must have a ticket to enter the arena, this includes children. Tickets where given to your graduate when they picked up their caps and gowns, and are not the same as the formal announcements.
There is no readmission to the arena, so please make sure you bring everything you may need for the duration of the ceremony which last approximately 2 hours. The arena refreshment stand, as well as a bookstore window and flower stand will be available for all guests during both ceremonies.
Those family and friends who do not have tickets are invited to watch a live simulcast of the ceremony in the Warner Student Life Center, located next to the Collins Arena. Family, friends and guests are all invited to the post ceremony reception underneath the tent on the Warner SLC patio, which is the best location to meet up with your graduate after the ceremony.
If a guest needs an accommodation please contact the office of Student Life & Activities directly at 732-224-2788. At the time you call you will need to give your name, the name of your graduate, your contact information and the nature of your request. We work collaboratively with the office of Disability Services to make sure we are able to meet all reasonable accommodations. Please make sure we receive requests by Friday, May 1, 2015 so we have enough time to coordinate our assistance.
Those family and friends unable to make the ceremony at Lincroft may watch the live simulcast of the ceremony available on the Brookdale home-page. A link is also available here. Simulcast begins with the morning ceremony at 10 AM and the afternoon ceremony at 3 PM.
A professional photographer will take two photos of each graduate. The first photo will be of each graduate as they cross the platform. The second photo will be taken as they exit the platform. In June, your graduate will receive a letter from the photographer and a proof of your photos. Orders may be placed online with the assigned PIN you receive. For more information check out the Island Photography web-page: http://www.islandphoto.com/main/inside.php?page=order_prints
We ask guests taking photos to please not approach the platform or block the aisles on the floor of the arena. This helps for a smooth flow of graduates as they approach and leave the platform, and makes sure that someone taking a photo doesn’t block another family from capturing the moment from their seats.
If you still have questions please feel free to contact the Department of Student Life & Activities at 732-224-2788 or by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
