Information Technology & Distance Education

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for the guidance, assessment, planing and execution of all the current technologies that support the academic disciplines and administrative functions at Brookdale. OIT directly supports students with all things computer related.

At Brookdale all students are expected to regularly check their Brookdale e-mail, and access their personal information online through Webadvisor. These two tools, like most Brookdale on-line tools, may be accessed using the common sign-on that uses your MyBrookdale NetID as explained in this video.

OIT also operates the Help Desk, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Contact the Help Desk by calling 732-224-2829 or via email at The OIT website, with useful information including downloads and training, is available here.

Don’t worry if you still have questions! At the beginning of the fall term OIT staff will be on hand at various spots on the Lincroft campus and the regional locations to assist new students who encounter problems with Webadvisor sign in or Brookdale email.

ComputersDistance Education refers to online learning – either through fully online courses or web-enhanced classes where students meet face to face but the professor places classroom materials on the web.  At Brookdale we utilize the Canvas Learning Management System to coordinate online learning.

Norah Kerr McCurry, Director Innovation Center and Distance Education, narrates the following video which is an introduction to the Canvas LMS. Follow along to get an overview of the system.

If you need assistance the staff in the Innovation Center is available to help! They are located adjacent to the Bankier Library; contact them by using their online contact form or by calling 732-224-2089.  More information about online classes may be found here.
