The Honorary Degree Committee is seeking nominees to receive an honorary Brookdale degree during the 2014 Commencement ceremony. All current and former Brookdale employees, students and Board members (Trustee, Foundation and Alumni) are encouraged to nominate a candidate worthy of this honor.
Last year, the recipient was Risa Clay, Principal of Red Bank Regional High School. She is the co-founder and Director of The SOURCE, a school-based youth services program that provides counseling, academic support and preventative health care to young people and their families. Ms. Clay founded the Puente al Futuro (Bridge to the Future) scholarship program. Students are offered enrollment in Brookdale’s Fast Start college credit program in their senior year, giving them the opportunity to experience college life while earning credits. Students who complete the program are then eligible to obtain a scholarship to attend Brookdale as full-time college students.
To be eligible for consideration, a nominee needs to have achieved excellence in one or more of the following:
- Professional Accomplishments
- Community/Public Service
- Personal Accomplishments
- Inspirational Life Achievements: whereby the candidate would serve to inspire Brookdale students.
Please note that no current Brookdale employee, Board member or student is eligible to receive this honor.
Nominations will be accepted up to 5 PM on Wednesday, April 2, for the candidate to be considered for receiving the honorary degree during graduation ceremonies on May 16, 2014.
