Available Scholarships

The majority of scholarships made available by the Brookdale Foundation and the Brookdale Alumni Association are awarded through the College’s Financial Aid department to students who do not receive Federal or State grants but who have filed a FAFSA form. We encourage all students & families to file the FAFSA form in order to be considered for scholarships.

The scholarships listed below are available by application. Please review each for specific criteria and deadlines.


 

Fifty $1,000 OceanFirst Foundation Scholarships to 2014 high school graduates who attend high schools and live in towns in the OceanFirst market (see application for specifics).  Criteria and Application.

One $500 Michael L. MacDougall Memorial Scholarship (applications due February 14). Criteria and Application.

Two $500 Brookdale Community College Alumni Association Upper Division Scholarships are available to a December or a May graduating Brookdale student who plans to continue on to a four-year college. A faculty member must nominate the student. Criteria and Application.

Three $500 Brookdale Community College Alumni Association Youth Opportunity Scholarships are available to an incoming Monmouth County high school graduate who plans to attend Brookdale full-time in the fall of 2014. Criteria and Application.

Seven $600 T. J. Bruno Memorial Scholarships for Students with Disabilities. This Endowed Scholarship was formed by Tony and Claudia Bruno and family friends Eleanor and Roger Dolan in memory of their son who died in 1999 at the age of 34. This scholarship is available to provide tuition assistance to a Monmouth County incoming high school student who will attend Brookdale in Fall 2014. Qualified applicants include those students who are classified and determined eligible for special education and related services under provision of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA). This scholarship is renewable for a second year, based on satisfactory academic record at Brookdale. Criteria and Application (rev. 2/14). 

The Audrie LaTowsky AAUW Scholarship is awarded through the Northern Monmouth County Branch of the American Association of University Women. The LaTowsky Scholarship ranges from $500 to $1000 and is awarded to a female, 25 years or older by April 1, 2014 who is a permanent resident of Monmouth County; and is a Brookdale student who plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree following graduation. Must have completed 24 credits by May 2014 and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Criteria and Application.

Four $500 Alumni Association Harry V. Weber, Jr. Endowed Memorial Scholarships are available to Brookdale second year students enrolled in nursing or political science; although students enrolled in other programs of study are also eligible. Criteria and Application.

One $500 Roger Price Conant Memorial Scholarship created in loving memory of our former colleague and friend. Criteria and Application

One $1,000 Console & Hollawell Legal Leaders Scholarship and one $500 Console & Hollawell Paralegal Scholarship.  Criteria.

Four Wilbur Ray Memorial Scholarships of $500 each are available to currently enrolled Brookdale students who are Monmouth County residents, ethnic minority students; can show evidence of financial need; and demonstrate career interest in law enforcement and/or related field. One $1,000 scholarship is available to an incoming high school student. Criteria and Application.

Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce Educational Foundation Scholarships (varied).  Criteria and Application. 

Two $1700 Theo Gade Endowed Memorial Radio Broadcasting Scholarships are available to currently enrolled Brookdale students who are majoring in: Humanities Program A. A. Degree/Broadcasting Option or Communications Media Program A. A. S. Degree/Radio Broadcasting Option, and is a second year, full-time matriculated student registered for 12 credits in the fall 2014, one of which is RDIO 295 or RDIO299. Criteria and Application

One $500 Christine Fleming Memorial Scholarship through the Brookdale Alumni Association. Criteria and Application.

Two $300 to $500 Corrine Gramas Endowed Memorial Music Scholarships are available to currently enrolled Brookdale students studying music who have earned at least 15 credits in the music option with a GPA of 2.75+. Criteria and Application

Two $500 Buck Smith Scholarships are available to incoming students from either Christian Brothers Academy, Henry Hudson Regional, Keansburg High School, Keyport High School, Marine Academy of Science & Technology, Mater Dei High School, Middletown High School North and South, Monmouth County Vocational, Raritan High School, Red Bank Catholic High School or St. John Vianney High School, and are registered to attend Brookdale in the Fall 2014. Two $500 Officer Kenneth F. Tietjen Memorial Scholarship is available to graduates of Monmouth County High Schools and registered to attend Brookdale Community College as a Criminal Justice Major in the fall of 2014. Criteria and Application. 

One $1,800 Eileen Lucarelli Memorial Scholarship is available to a Brookdale student in the Respiratory Therapy program; who has earned a minimum of 8 credits in this program; has a GPA of 2.5+; and has financial need. Criteria and Application

One Vinnie Gorman “Blue Bishops” Endowed Scholarship for 2014 graduates of Asbury Park High School. Scholarship (ranging from $300 to $600) criteria: resident of Asbury Park or neighboring town; GPA of B or better; member of a Varsity sports team or active in other school activities; and registered to attend Brookdale in Fall 2014. Two Freehold Area Branch AAUW Lew Williams and Leila Sulkes Scholarships for $2000 for NJ Coastal Communiversity students. Criteria and Application

One Kristoffer P. Anderson Memorial Culinary Scholarship of $750 for students enrolled in the Culinary Program. Criteria and Application. 

Two $500 “Fala Portugues?” Scholarships are available for Portuguese students enrolled at the College. Students need to demonstrate solid academic performance, must have been or are currently enrolled in a Portuguese class at Brookdale, and have financial need. Criteria and Application.

The Research & Development Council of NJ Merit Scholarship is for for community college students pursuing a STEM major. Criteria and Application.

Grainger Tools for Tomorrow   For the 2013 – 2014 academic year, Grainger offered 100 community colleges across the U.S. two, $2,000 scholarships for students enrolled in an industrial trades program. Learn more on the Grainger website.  Criteria and Application 

The $1,000 Cristina LoBrutto Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded to a 2014 graduate of Old Bridge High School who enrolls at Brookdale for Fall 2014. Criteria and Application.
