Several events will take place on the Brookdale Community College campus as part of African-American History Month. The events include:

-Pan-African Flag-Raising Ceremony at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 31 at the Collins Arena flagpole, sponsored by the Black Student Union and Student Life

-Following the Flag-Raising Ceremony on January 31, stop by the Navesink Rooms for speed painter Tom Varano’s Emotion Into Art presentation at noon in the Student Life Center

-On February 14, the African-American History on Wheels exhibit will be on display in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Lounge in the Student Life Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

-On February 28, astronaut, scientist and author Leland Melvin discusses his personal journey from the gridiron to the stars in A Journey Into Space and Beyond! The presentation takes place at 7 p.m. in the Collins Arena with doors opening at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are required.
