The Brookdale Police Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is a unique law enforcement agency designed specifically to serve the needs of the College community. Brookdale police officers receive the same Police Academy training and have the same authority as any New Jersey municipal police officer. In an emergency, dial 911 or 2222 from any on-campus phone. For non-emergencies dial 2352.

Emergency Phones around Campus
There are 22 yellow emergency phones identified by blue lights located throughout the campus. Open the door of the phone box, pick up the handset and the Police will be contacted whether or not a message is transmitted. View a high resolution map showing emergency phone locations.
Crime Prevention Tips
- Be aware that anyone is a potential victim of crime.
- Immediately notify the College Police Department if any person(s) or activity arouses your suspicion.
- Avoid isolation and use well-lighted paths after dark.
- Walk with others and do not hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers.
- Be sure to lock your motor vehicle when parking in our parking lots.
- Secure anything of value in your trunk.
- Do not leave property unprotected.
Possession of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs is prohibited on campus. In general, avoid the use of alcohol or drugs. Persons under the influence are more likely to be the victims of a serious crime or accident.

Brookdale Police maintain mobile, bicycle, and foot patrols that cover the entire campus. They are always in radio contact with police headquarters and quickly respond to emergency situations and calls for assistance. In addition to uniformed patrol personnel, the Police Department maintains an investigative division, which provides crime prevention services, traffic accident investigations, and administrative support.
At Brookdale`s Higher Education Centers, Security Officers are on duty during the times classes are in session and maintain security at all of our Centers, i.e., Hazlet, Long Branch, Freehold, Wall and Neptune. They are uniformed and remain visible at all times. These officers do not have police powers, but are available in case of need and will contact their respective municipal departments for problems that require police action. They are supervised by the Brookdale Police Department, and all Brookdale Community College regulations apply.
Brookdale Police officers are available to make presentations to students, faculty, and staff upon request. Topics available include Crime Prevention and Personal Safety, Date Rape, Traffic Safety and Fire Safety. Educational programs to promote awareness of sex offenses are scheduled throughout the year.
