The Plight of the World’s Coral Reefs.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Carrie Manfrino, President, Founder, and Director of Research and Conservation of the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI), Little Cayman Island and Professor, Rutgers and Kean Universities.
Coral reefs, home to 25% of all marine species, are being damaged by global warming, bleaching, acidification, storm water runoff, over-fishing and physical destruction. Dr. Manfrino will discuss the plight of the world’s coral reefs – from the Caribbean Sea to the Great Barrier Reef – and her organization’s efforts to protect reefs from further environmental degradation.
