  • Business Administration Program A.A. Degree
  • Humanities Program A.A. Degree, English Option
  • Humanities Program, A.A. Degree, Liberal Education Option
  • Social Sciences Program A. A. Degree
  • Social Sciences Program A. A. Degree, History Option

Distance Education Options

Students have the option of taking courses toward a degree program online. Degrees available are Business Administration, Liberal Studies, Social Sciences, and History.

Online Courses

Online courses are offered over the Internet and can be accessed, via your assigned password, at any time, day or night. Instructor contact will take place through e-mail. Testing locations will be assigned, and, because of the need for a password, the textbook packet indicated in this brochure or on the Brookdale web page must be purchased. Many online courses require an initial orientation meeting, and some require proctored testing.

Telecourses

Do you enjoy the PBS program "NOVA"? Then Telecourses might be right for you. Telecourses are offered via cable television; in addition, most courses can be accessed over the Internet. All Brookdale Telecourses provide learning opportunities equal to traditional classroom experiences. However, the program is not a tape of a lecture. Video programs are highly produced programming from course producers such as PBS. You may watch at home at the scheduled broadcast times, or tape the segments to review at your convenience. You may also choose to watch them in, or borrow copies from, the Brookdale Bankier Library. If you live outside the broadcast area, you may even rent the entire course from RMI Media Productions, Inc. 1-800-745-5480. Brookdale instructors handle course assignments and student progress, and are available by mail, e-mail and phone to answer questions and provide guidance. On-campus Orientation is required for Telecourses. You will meet the instructor who will present course information, a course study guide and syllabus and the course's requirements and completion dates. The instructor will provide contact information and hours of availability during which assistance can be provided to you. Viewing/listening time is usually one hour per week per course. You must also complete readings and assignments from the text and/or study guide and any other written papers or exams.

Interactive (ITV) Courses

ITV courses are broadcast from either the Lincroft or Western Monmouth campus to the Brookdale Higher Education Centers in Western Monmouth, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Wall and Bayshore. Students use interactive technology to connect with the instructor, and are able to see, hear and participate in the class, all at an off-campus location which may be more convenient.
