Brookdale OneCard Disclosure Statement
The Brookdale OneCard is the official photo identification card of Brookdale Community College and must be carried by the cardholder at all times. The card is nontransferable. Unauthorized use subjects all involved to possible disciplinary action.
The mechanism for accessing the cardholder’s account(s) or privileges shall be the OneCard. Presentation of the card may be required to access College services, library services, admission to events, and building access. Access to College facilities or cardholder’s account(s) may be denied if your account is suspended by the College for administrative reasons, you deactivate your card, or if your card’s magnetic stripe is damaged and will not scan.
The card is the property of Brookdale Community College and is non-transferable. Only the cardholder may present the Brookdale OneCard for purchases and other privileges. OneCards will be confiscated if presented by someone other than the cardholder or if the card is involved in inappropriate or illegal use. Fraudulent use of the card will result in disciplinary action.
Information about the cardholder’s account will be disclosed to third parties only for the following reasons: (1) in order to complete a transaction; (2) in order to comply with court orders or other applicable laws; or (3) with the cardholder’s written permission. Brookdale Community College reserves the right to utilize any and all data and images for official college business.
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Cards
Lost or stolen cards must be immediately deactivated by the cardholder online. Go to Lost Stolen or Damage OneCard page for detailed instructions on deactivating your OneCard if you have deposited Brookdale Bucks and or the Money Network funds on your Brookdale OneCard.
Cardholders with an active OneCard Money Network® must also call 800-822-4283 to report the card lost or stolen. Brookdale Community College is NOT authorized to deactivate the The Money Network Discover Enabled account
The replacement fee for a lost or damaged card is $15. An official police report that has been approved from the Dean of Student Affairs (office located in MAC 106 on the Lincroft Campus) will waive the replacement fee for stolen cards. Only the latest card printed is valid. Replacement of a card when there is a change in the cardholder status or name is free; however, the old card must be presented in exchange for the new card.
Brookdale Bucks, a Flexible Spending Account
Brookdale Bucks is an online, prepaid, declining balance spending account that may be used to pay for purchases on all Brookdale Campuses.
The Brookdale Bucks eAccount can be activated by making an initial deposit into the account. There are no fees to establish or use the account. No interest shall be paid on any balance in the account. Deposits may be made online at http://www.brookdalecc.edu/onecard/brookdale-bucks/ with a Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Log into your Brookdale Bucks eAccount using your NetID user name and password. You may also deposit funds onto the Brookdale OneCard at the Cashiers window located on the Lincroft Campus in CAR building and at the OneCard PHiL Station ( an ATM like machine) located at Lincroft in the Warner Student Life Center.
Cardholders who elect to deposit funds into a Brookdale Bucks eAccount agree to be bound by the terms and conditions disclosed herein. The Brookdale Bucks eAccount will be administered by the OneCard Services Office located in the CAR building Cashiers window on the Lincroft Campus and at Self Check-In Kiosk on the Freehold Campus.
The Brookdale OneCard must be presented at the time of purchase and shall be the only means of accessing the participant’s account. Only the person pictured on the Brookdale OneCard is authorized to spend money from the account. If a lost or stolen card is deactivated as outlined above, the balance is protected and may be transferred to a new OneCard. A merchant may request additional identification to guarantee that only the participant uses the account. The account holder may be required to sign a receipt for goods or services.
FERPA Privacy Statement
Photos for the College ID will only be used for legitimate College purposes (i.e. identification for access purposes, etc.) under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. Information regarding cardholder’s account will not be provided to third parties unless required by court order, applicable laws, public safety, or with written permission of the cardholder.
Documentation of Transactions/Cardholder History/Statement
Account holders may receive and may request a receipt at the time a purchase is made from any card reader operated by a cashier, provided however, that account holders will not receive a receipt from a card reader attached to a vending machine, a printer, or at on-campus dining facilities. The account holder’s current balance and six (6) months of transaction history is available online at Brookdale Bucks eAccounts. The account holder agrees to verify the history of deposits and transactions on a monthly basis. A printed copy of the account holder’s transaction history may be requested at the OneCard Service Office located in the CAR building at the Cashiers window on the Lincroft campus.
To minimize potential loss to the participant, unattended locations/applications, such as vending, may impose a daily spending limit. Except as outlined above for unattended devices, there is no daily limit on the number of transactions or their dollar total, up to the available balance.
Refund Policy/Unused Balances
The account holder agrees and understands that there will be no cash withdrawals or refunds from active Brookdale Bucks eAccounts. Cash refunds will not be issued for returned merchandise purchased with Brookdale Bucks. Brookdale Bucks eAccounts will be credited for the amount of the return. Merchandise must be returned to the location where goods or services were purchased and returns are subject to the return policy of the merchant.
Brookdale Bucks eAccounts are not intended to simulate a checking or savings account. A request for refund must be submitted to receive reimbursement for any unused balance on the Brookdale Bucks eAccount. Refund requests for unused balances must be submitted to Cashiers window at Lincroft in located in the CAR building. You can submit an online electronic refund request form at Brookdale Bucks eAccount Closure Form. All College debts must be satisfied prior to a refund being processed. Approved refund checks will be mailed within 90 days from the date of request. Refunds are made payable to the account holder and mailed to the current address on file. Refunds will not be processed for $25 or less. You are encouraged to spend smaller balances. Unclaimed balances over $25 remain the cardholders Brookdale Bucks account for five years.
Summary of Fees for Brookdale Bucks
- No charge for initial issuance of OneCard
- No transaction fees for purchases or for deposits
- No charge for legal name change
- $10 returned check fee first time, $20 for second time.
- $15 card replacement fee for lost or damaged cards. An official police report that has been approved from the Dean of Student Affairs (office located in MAC 106 on the Lincroft Campus) will waive the replacement fee for stolen cards..
It is important that the account holder review the account history available online on a monthly basis. Errors on receipts should be addressed with the business of origin. If the account holder is unable to resolve the dispute with the merchant, contact the OneCard Office.
Discrepancies must be reported to the OneCard Service Office located at the Cashiers window in the CAR building on the Lincroft campus no later than 5 business days after the discrepancy appears. Undisputed transactions greater than 5 business days from date of the transaction will be deemed valid. The time limit for reporting unauthorized charges may be extended in the event of extenuating circumstances such as travel or hospitalization.
Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately as explained above. It is the sole responsibility of the card holder to deactivate the card if there funds associated with Brookdale Bucks and or the Money Network.
Eligibility Status and Definitions
A currently enrolled student is a student whose status is “Active.” “Active” and “Inactive” statuses are determined on a daily basis as follows:
- First time enrollment.
- Re-enrollment for one or more classes for the current semester.
- A student drops to zero classes for the current semester.
- A student is dropped for non-payment.
- If a student completes a term and does not re-enroll they will be considered inactive 30 days after their last class ends.
Students whose status is marked as “Inactive” will not be eligible to receive students discount and access to various resources.
