Brookdale Men's Lacrosse Wins Third Consecutive Region XIX Title
Towaco, NJ – Behind the sweeping defensive play of Region XIX MVP Lenny Bellezza (West Windsor), Brookdale’s Jersey Blues men’s lacrosse team captured its third consecutive Region XIX title, with a 12-8 defeat of Delaware Technical Community College (Terry Campus).
The Jersey Blues received offensive contribution from Shane Raymond (Old Bridge) who scored two goals and assisted four others (six points) on the night, while sophomore Marc Scoran tallied five points (two goals, three assists). PJ Maher, Pat Cunningham (Middletown and CBA) and Tom Dougherty (Toms River) each scored two goals apiece in the win. Brookdale defeated Williamson Trade 17-0 to enter the Region championship for the fourth straight year.
Three-time Region XIX coach of the year Steve Heller and his squad will now host Nassau (NY) on Saturday, May 5, in a district play-off game with a National championship berth on the line.
