Brookdale will showcase summer students’ presentations on their biochemistry research topics on Thursday, June 21, at the Lincroft main campus in the Warner Center from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The students are taking CHEM-236, a class taught by C. Britt Carlson, that includes a laboratory component (supervised by learning assistant Jennifer Stock).
The advanced level course includes such topics as the structure and nature of life’s important biochemicals - carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins - and the detailed metabolic pathways that generate them and release their energy. Students study the RNA and DNA gene molecules, learn their descriptions, and study the role they play in protein synthesis and their structures.
The public is encouraged to attend, meet the students, and hear first-hand about their projects. Light refreshments will be served.
