Brookdale Community College is proud to announce its new chorus-in-residence, the Brookdale Concordia Chorale, at home on the main Lincroft campus.
The Brookdale Concordia Chorale has been formed by inviting the existing Concordia Chorale to join Brookdale as the College’s resident chorus; students from Brookdale’s Voice classes are now being welcomed as the Chorale’s newest members.
The 40-voice Concordia Chorale, founded in 2001, specializes in the masterworks of the classic choral repertory including major oratorios by Handel, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and Brahms, along with works by contemporary composers. The Chorale rehearses and performs under the leadership of Cynthia and John Balme, adjunct professors at Brookdale.
Along with a steady schedule of performances around Monmouth County, the Chorale has sung at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center and at Carnegie Hall. The Chorale frequently performs with its companion group, the Concordia Youth Chorale.
In May of 2013 the Brookdale Concordia Chorale will collaborate with the Concordia Youth Chorale in the local premiere of The Peacemakers by contemporary composer Karl Jenkins. (This work made its world premiere at Lincoln Center in January 2012.)
