The Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships worth up to $30,000 per year to qualified community college students, to help them earn a baccalaureate degree. The Foundation is a private, independent entity dedicated to advancing the education of exceptional students from the 2-year college sector.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
You must be a current student at an accredited U.S. community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31, 2012, or a recent graduate. Recent alumni must have graduated within the last five years (since spring 2008).
You must plan to enroll in and pursue a baccalaureate degree full-time at an accredited four-year college or university commencing in Fall 2013.
You must have a cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.50 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent). This cumulative GPA must include all college-level courses taken.
You must present two letters of recommendation.
You must satisfy Brookdale’s institutional criteria and be nominated by Brookdale’s Jack Kent Cooke Foundation faculty representative.
You must have significant, unmet financial need.
You must not have previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
While the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation considers academic excellence first in evaluating candidates, competitive applicants must also demonstrate unmet financial need, which has two components:
Education costs that are appreciably greater than the total amount of other scholarships or grant awards.
Insufficient student and family income to meet educational costs.
Each applicant will meet with the faculty representative to determine whether he or she adequately demonstrates unmet financial need.
Brookdale’s Institutional Requirements
