Children 12 and under are welcome to enjoy our Theater Department’s production of “Amazing Grace” on the following days: February 16 and 23 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.; and February 17 and 24 at 2:00 p.m.
“Amazing Grace” is an adaptation by Shay Youngblood of the book by Mary Hoffman. The story follows Grace, a girl who loves stories, and is empowered by the strength of her imagination and the love of her mother and Nana to creatively adopt roles and identities such as Joan of Arc, Anansi the Spider, Hiawatha, Mowgli, and many more.
When Grace’s school class plans a presentation of “Peter Pan,” Grace knows who she wants to be. She holds fast despite protests that she can’t be Peter Pan because she is a girl and because she is black. In the end, Grace shows that she can do anything she sets her mind to!
