Behind a 22-point effort by the Region XIX player of the year Neil Thompson (Monmouth Regional), the Brookdale mens basketball team defeated Rochester Technical Community College, 72-70, in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III men's basketball National tournament. Cory Soanes (Matawan) chipped in with 16 points and eight rebounds.  This is the first time the Jersey Blues have won on the opening day of the tournament and will next face the winner of The Herkimer/Sullivan game tomorrow at 7pm.  The winner will advance to the NJCAA Division III title game on Saturday.
