Graduate Trustee Appointed to Brookdale Board
Zach Eisenberg, 20, of Marlboro, was sworn in as the 2013-2014 Graduate Trustee on Brookdale Community College’s Board of Trustees, at the monthly Board of Trustees’ meeting on May 23.
Eisenberg was elected to the one-year term by his college peers, and replaces Timothy Hart.
Eisenberg, who graduated in May with an Associate of the Arts degree in Political Science, was honored with the Outstanding Student award from the Social Science and Education Division. He will pursue his baccalaureate degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Eisenberg aspires to be a lawyer.
“As the graduate member, Zach will be an asset to the Board. His dedication and enthusiasm for Brookdale, and his involvement in not only the honor society, but also the Student Ambassador program, made him a natural spokesman for what works for students at Brookdale. It’s very important for the Board to hear Zach’s perspectives as a former student, and to give him the opportunity to help shape the College’s future,” said Brian Butch, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
While at Brookdale, Eisenberg served as the President of the Honors Program, Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa, Brookdale’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Secretary of the History Political Science Club, Executive Board member of Conquer Cancer Club and member of the Student Life Board and Student Ambassador Program.
“Millions of college students, whether traditional or non-traditional, are striving to establish an academic foundation or framework to adhere to so that they can contribute more to their community and to their self-autonomy,” said Eisenberg. “Those who do so at Brookdale have so many advantages, and resources to utilize, and learn to approach their studies and disciplines in such a manner that no matter where educational transcendence may take them, they will carry on with the integrity of Brookdale Community College.”
Eisenberg is looking forward to working with the Board as the College looks forward to its Jubilee (50th) Year in 2017.
“The Board of Trustees is a group of dedicated individuals eager to take steps in the right direction regarding different initiatives that foster an even better environment for Brookdale’s students,” said Eisenberg. “ Having seen all the benefits and adversities my fellow students have encountered over the last two years, I feel that I am the perfect fit to be the voice of students who want to bring change simply because they care.”
Eisenberg’s interests include hockey, baseball, spending time with his family and friends, and studying for the LSATS.
