Hybrid/Online Math Course Development Schedule

Our online math courses offer students the opportunity to take a math course without having to come on campus for classes. The online courses cover the same material and proceed at the same pace as our on-campus courses.

Students in our online courses will learn in several ways, including by using tutorial software, reading short lectures written by the instructor, by viewing video lectures, by reading the textbook, and by participating in online discussions in which students and professor share difficulties and discoveries.

Math Courses Currently Offered Online:

Math 136, Mathematics for the Liberal Arts
Math 151, Intermediate Algebra
These courses are offered in the Summer 10-week and Fall and Spring 15 week semesters. To see if seats are available, to find the name of the instructor for the course, and to read a course description, click here to access Brookdale's "search for sections."

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to log on at a set time every week?
No, but you should be prepared to log on several times each week so that you can keep up with discussions. Discussions are posted on an online "bulletin board" so that they can be read at any time. Participation in discussions is required.
  1. I don't have time to take an on-campus class. Is an online class for me?
No, an online class takes just as much time as an on-campus class, perhaps more, because you must do a lot of reading and listening to video lectures or using tutorial software.
  1. Do we take tests and quizzes online?
Quizzes are online. The tests are on campus at the Brookdale Community College Testing Center, which is open during the day and evenings during the week, and on Saturdays. If you are not near the Brookdale campus arrangements can be made to have your test proctored at another college campus, or with a designated proctor.
  1. Do I have to be very computer savvy to take this course?
You should know how to use the World Wide Web, and how to send email.
  1. What if I have problems that the online discussion doesn't help me with?
The instructors for these courses are available during their office hours and by email. As with all our courses, additional help is available from the math lab.

Any additional questions? Please email the individual instructor for the course. Use the "search for sections" to find the instructor's name.
