Patient Care Technician

Discover the rewards of direct patient care through employment in clinical environments such as hospitals and subacutue facilities. This new program includes lecture, lab and clinical.

Upon completion, you will be prepared to sit for certification through the National Center for Competency Testing. Certificate awarded upon completion.

Technicians will be multi-skilled and become knowledgeable in:

  • Role of the Patient Care Techician
  • Legal and ethical aspects
  • Infection control
  • Vital signs
  • CPR certification
  • Basic anatomy and physiology
  • EKG
  • Venipuncture

Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED (See Education Policy, page 26 of the Healthcare Training and Nursing Continuing Education brochure), physical exam, documentation of immunizations, 2 step PPD, hepatitis B series, criminal background check (information at registration). Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
