Questions? Problems? Comments?
Don't know where to go with them? Start right here.
Registration & Records
The Registrar’s office handles nearly everything related to your initial admission, ongoing registration, and eventual graduation –as well as your Brookdale records such as transcripts, verification of enrollment, and charge-back forms. Your question might be answered on the Registration page. If not, head over to Registration & Records – anyone at the counter should be able to assist you.
Or you may contact the office directly at 732-224-2375. If you don’t find your answer with any of these options, send your question or problem to helpme@brookdalecc.edu and we’ll do our best to get back to you within two (2) working days.
Grades
There is a formal process to lodge a concern about a grade you’ve received. The exact steps are detailed in the College Catalog and the Student Handbook – click here to see the appeal process.
Briefly: you should start by discussing your concerns with the faculty member who issued the grade; if the issue is unresolved you should then discuss it with the Department Chair in that academic area. Click here to see a list of chairs and deans, with phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
If neither of these steps are satisfactory you may then file a Student Grade Appeal. The paperwork is available in the office of the Dean of Academic Affairs and in the Registration area. After you fill this out and submit it to the Division Chair, he or she will open a formal investigation in hopes of resolving the situation; if it continues to be unresolved at this point, a hearing will be conducted by the Dean of Academic Affairs before an Appeal Committee (comprised of two faculty members from outside the department in question and two students). Within two (2) weeks of the hearing, all participants will be informed of the Committee’s recommendations.
If you are still not sure how to proceed, or aren’t comfortable with any aspect of the process, contact helpme@brookdalecc.edu and we will do our best to get back to you within two (2) working days.
Counselors / Academic Advising
If you’re enrolled at Brookdale you know the drill - you work with a student development specialist – a counselor – to plan your academic program (and sometimes your transfer and/or career planning goals). You should first bring your concerns or questions to the attention of your counselor. If you don`t know who your counselor is, you can find out with Webadvisor. Go to the Webadvisor Student Menu, click on My Progress Toward My Degree, and follow the on screen instructions.
If you are unable to resolve your concerns satisfactorily, you can contact Stephen Curto, Director of Student Development Services. Phone him at (732) 224-2593 or send an e-mail to scurto@brookdalecc.edu If you are uncomfortable with this process or feel your concerns are not being adequately addressed, drop a line to helpme@brookdalecc.edu and we’ll do our best to get back to you within two (2) working days.
Faculty or Learning Assistants
It’s always best to try to resolve problems with your Professor or Learning Assistant directly. Set up an appointment during office hours to explain your concerns. See if some resolution can be reached. If you are not satisfied, the next step is a meeting with the Department Chair for the academic area for your course and faculty member. Make an appointment to express your concerns.
If things are still not cleared up, make an appointment with the Division Chair, the final area for resolution of problems. issues. Click here to see a list of Department and Division Chairpersons, with phone numbers and e-mail addresses. If you are uncomfortable with this process or feel your concerns are not being adequately addressed, send a note to helpme@brookdalecc.edu and we’ll do our best to get back to you within two (2) working days.
