Tom Mason
Professor Mason taught at the City University of New York (CUNY) and at the State University of New York (SUNY), before coming to Brookdale Community College in 1977. He also taught at the University of Hawaii as part of a faculty exchange program during his tenure at Brookdale.
Professor Mason has published two Human Resource text supplements and has written a number of academic articles. He obtains his cutting edge from his work as a management consultant for small businesses as well as large organizations such as AT&T, the New Jersey Department of Human Services and the United States Department of Defense.
He does consulting work for the Monmouth-Ocean SBDC and is a recipient of the Small Business Administration's "Small Business Advocate Award".
Professor Mason also voluntarily has contributed his expertise as a member of the Board Of Directors at Red Bank's Lunch Break Community Organization as well as serving as a coach for the Lincroft Soccer Club.
Tom is a serious fan of Soccer (Real Football) on the domestic as well as the international arenas. He is a certified referee for High School Varsity Competitions.
Tom likes to spend time with his family. He likes to ski in the Alps and the Rockies, finds peace in the Adirondacks and enjoys the food and culture of Tuscany, New York City and Red Bank. He studies, practices, and attempts to get by with the Italian language
In November of 2009 Professor Mason has been invited to the New University of Lisbon,Portugal as a visiting Professor. He will be providing students with information about New York City and the Jersey Shore's Regional Economic Activity.
Professor Mason has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Buffalo and an MBA from the City University of New York. He also holds a Certificate in Higher Education from Rutgers University. Tom believes learning is an active process of change and creativity.
