Record: 13-1-2 GSAC Champions The Jersey Blues lost only one game all season on their way to their sixth straight GSAC Championship. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer the Blues failed to advanced to the Region Championship game in the penalty-kick shootout.Seven players were named to All-Conference or All-Region Teams: Forwards Johanna Lovallo & Liz Grimaldi; Mid-fielders Jenna Lippi and Kelly Ackerman; Defenders Erin McDonald & Annie Peraggine; along with GK Melissa Scaduto. Lovallo was named 1st Team All-American by the NJCAA and McDonald earned 2nd team recognition. McDonald and Lovallo also received NSCAA All-American recognition.
2008 Outlook
With 3 returning starters, the Jersey Blues will depend on a transfer and a large freshmen class to continue Brookdale’s Conference Championship run. Sophomores Jenna Lippi (MF 7g, 14a), Katie James (MF/D) & Annie Peraggine (D) return as the team leaders. The mid-field should be a key strength of the program, with Lippi (Middletown North) and James (Howell) being joined by Longwood University transfer Joanna Montefinesse (Howell), Susan Candiano (Manalapan), Megan Lapkowski (Middletown South), and Nicole Taylor (Matawan). The Defense will be anchored by Peraggine (Manalapan) at sweeper, Jess Bogert (Wall), Lauren Starek (Raritan) and Paula Keegan (Long Branch) will by vying for the other positions, and James played exceptionally well in the back last year. Up top a number of players, including sophomore Courtney Rosado (Class Academy) (4 g, 4a), Lisa James (Manchester) and Nilufer Onder (Howell), will be looking to provide scoring punch.Kim Mairs & Hilda Corredor (both Matawan) provide versatility to fill in at a number of positions. Sasha Fabrizio (Brick), a standout on Brookdale’s basketball team the last two years (along with Lisa James) will be in goal for Blues. Late addition Jackie Oren (Holmdel) joins the roster ; she is a versatile player who will see time as a defender and midfielder. With an ambitious scheduled that includes teams from Delaware, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania, the Jersey Blues look to repeat as Conference Champions, and another trip to the National Tournament.
