The Men’s lacrosse team completed their first year of varsity play by finishing 2nd in the Region 19 tournament and 21st nationally. Boasting one of the hardest schedules in the country, Brookdale went out and competed against the best teams in the NJCAA. Brookdale’s first ever win came against region opponent Morris CC on March 31 (15-9). Despite finishing with a 3-10 overall record, the team made great strides over the season and finished 3-4 over the last 7 games, to include a 2OT win against Williamson Trade in the Regional tournament. Several players made outstanding contributions to the team this year:
John Tanner – 1st Team All-Region Goalie
Eric Phillips – 1st Team All-Region Midfielder
Jim Stonack – 1st Team All-Region Midfielder
2009 Fall Outlook
With a core group of 15 players returning, Brookdale looks to build upon the success they had in their first year. A strong group of incoming freshman will help with much needed depth as well as create competition at all positions. Brookdale will participate in 3 fall scrimmages: Oct 3, Tri-Scrimmage with Army Prep and Penn State – Abington (D3 program), Oct 10th against Army Prep in the Lakewood Laxfest, and Oct 18th, Tri-Scrimmage against Army Prep and Briarcliff College (D2 program). These 3 contests will give us a great opportunity to go against some strong teams and prepare us for the spring season.
Brookdale’s fall season begins with 3 Sunday night workouts – August 16, 23, and 30. These begin at 6:00PM at Collins Arena. Brookdale’s fall practices begin on September 8th.
2010 Outlook
Brookdale again has one of the more difficult schedules, please see our schedule page for opponents and dates. Check back for a spring update in December!
