The Center for Experiential Learning & Career Services

Fall 2008 Workshop Schedule

The Center for Experiential Learning & Career Services offers a variety of programs and services to complement the student’s academic study, and to provide assistance in meeting employment needs.

Whether placed with an employer in a work experience related to their major, or volunteering in a community service as part of course work, students will develop valuable skills for the future.

Programs Offered

Internships/Externships (credit)
Cooperative Education (non-credit)
Education Field Experience
Service-Learning
Work Study/Student Help

Internship/Externship
A credit educational program that combines classroom study with work experience in a field related to the student's major or career goals. Students earn anywhere from 1-6 credits while gaining professional experience working in a supervised learning environment.

Cooperative Education
A non-credit academic program linking classroom studies with work experience. Co-Op offers students the opportunity to gain work experience in their major, thereby breaking the "no experience, "no job" cycle.

Education Field Experience
Students wishing to transfer their Education 105 course to an upper division institution must complete 60 hours of education field observation, which is coordinated by our department.

 Service-Learning
Service-Learning combines academic study with community service, providing a unique opportunity to learn through active participation in organized service. Service-Learning puts "education into action."

Work Study/Student Help
Students who qualify under financial aid for the Work Study program, and are in good academic standing are placed in on-and off-campus jobs. Through the Student Help program, students who are in good academic standing and are currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits may be able to obtain on-campus work. (For these positions, financial aid eligibility is not a factor). The number of Student Help positions are limited. Please be advised that requests for on-campus employment must be made by September 19th.

Services Offered
