These classes provide a real, in-the-classroom college experience. We’ve chosen some of the most popular subjects, offering fascinating highlights to whet your appetite for the future.

Anthropology

Anthropologists are the real Indiana Jones and Lara Crofts. They study humans over the entire world and throughout time. So, whether it’s exploring human origins, investigating another culture, or finding artifacts from past societies that excite you, this is the place to learn more. We’ll examine the four traditional sub-fields of anthropology to help you find your personal favorite. Barbara K. Jones, PhD, teaches Anthropology at Brookdale. She is also director of the Archaeological Field School at Monmouth Battlefield and has led student trips to Hawaii, Egypt and this summer to Peru. 2 SESSIONS

Fashion Illustration And Design

Explore fashion design drawing and put your clothing designs, patterns and ideas on paper. Learn to draw the fashion figure, face and creative clothing designs. Enhance your fashion illustration with a variety of colorful media and develop your own fashion portfolio creating your own signature styles. Patricia Sebastiano, a working artist, has studied fine arts and retail fashion and taught many popular fashion design programs. 4 SESSIONS

Journey to College

The college admissions process does not need to be overwhelming, even during these turbulent times. In fact, new opportunities arise as schools adjust to the changing economy. This computer-based workshop includes building a college list, filling out applications, and making a final decision. Use Internet resources to explore careers, programs and colleges, and become familiar with various application forms, essay questions and interviews. Former university faculty and administrator, Dee Anderson specializes in college admission counseling. She is a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and National Association of College Admission Counselors. 4 SESSIONS

Psychology

Wonder what makes you, or others, think or act as they do? Psychology, the science of the mind, is one of the most popular majors in college. Find out why. Join our introduction to the many elements of personality; happiness, optimism, depression, attraction and disorders. Through lively discussion and group activity get a new view of human behavior. Instructor Ann Lim-Brand shares compelling insights to understanding today’s modern individual. She is a winning speaker who has received Cosmopolitan magazine’s “Fun, Fearless Female” award. 5 SESSIONS
