All new English As a Secind Language (ESL) students, or new students who MAY REQUIRE ESL, must complete all three parts of the placement testing procedure in order to register.
You need to take the ESL placement test if you:
Grew up and/or were educated in a country other than the United States,
Speak a language other than English at home,
Took ESL classes at any time during high school.
HOW DO I TAKE THE ESL PLACEMENT TEST?
FILL OUT ADMISSION APPLICATION
Go to the Administration building (CAR). (Use Parking Lot #5) MAKE SURE TO BRING A PICTURE ID
Ask for an admission application.
Fill out the application and pay the $25.00 fee. Be sure to save your receipt.
Ask for a permission slip to take the ESL Placement Test.
ESL PLACEMENT TESTING PROCEDURE:
All New ESL students must take the ESL Placement Test, Writing Skills Test, and the Oral Proficiency Test.
1. Use parking lot #5. Go to the CAR Building, lower level, Testing Center Bring the permission slip with you and a form of identification with your photo on it.
2. Take the ESL Placement Test and Writing Skills Test in the Testing Center.
Then, go home and relax. Results will not be given by telephone.
Placement will be made upon completion of the Oral Proficiency Test.
3. Call an ESL Coordinator, at (732) 224-2656 or Lillian Albano at 224-2489 to make an appointment for your Oral Proficiency Test.
4. Take the Oral Proficiency Test with an ESL coordinator and receive your ESL Placement Test results, Level Recommendation Form, and ESL Registration Pass.
