Each year the International Education Center hosts a series of faculty led short-term programs during the summer and winter terms, lasting between 7 - 21days. Programs, led by Brookdale faculty, take students outside the traditional classroom and allow them a firsthand look at the history and culture which often times is only portrayed through lectures and textbooks. Students generally earn 3 hours of course credit for successful completion of the program and its related components.
These programs are open to both students and community members aged 18 and older. Acceptance to the program is determined by the order in which applications are received. Past programs include Ghana, Ireland, Greece, Ecuador, France, Rwanda, Italy, Mexico, Japan and Peru. The Elaine Baran Scholarship is available to those Brookdale students who qualify.
