Short-Term Faculty-Led Program
Culture and Education in the Dominican Republic

 July 7 -18, 2010

Discover the culture and the people of the Dominican Republic through a short-tem summer abroad program.  This service learning program will offer Education Majors and other  students not only insight into the cultural history of the Dominican Republic, but also an experience of hands-on volunteering and interactions within the diverse school environments of  local communities.

We will visit Santo Domingo and the Colonial City as well as the Museum of Dominican Man. In Santiago de los Caballeros we will tour both cultural museums and special camps devoted to working with street children.
The Service Learning portion of the program will consist of spending five days at the Guzman Aria DREAM Summer Camp working with the children. During that time, we will be staying in the beach town of Cabarete .
