Brookdale 90, Del-Tech Stanton 71 Lincroft, NJ – The Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues (1-0) enjoyed three double-digit scorers en route to its first win of the season, a 91-70 rout of Del Tech Stanton (DE). Returning starters Bill McDonough (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/St. Rose) and Andre McKenzie (Asbury Park, NJ/Asbury Park) accounted for nearly half of the team’s scoring output, as McDonough scored 26 and McKenzie, 17. Making good on five three-point field goals, freshman Tom Jones (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) shined in his first start in a Jersey Blues uniform, adding another 22 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Brookdale’s depth proved to be too deep for the reigning Region XIX and District 9 champions, as a seven-point halftime lead quickly turned into double-digits early in the second half. Coming off the bench in their intercollegiate debut, Jared Walker (Eatontown, NJ/Long Branch) and Sean Dowd (Union Beach, NJ/Keyport) scored six points apiece. For Del Tech, freshman Malcolm Kelley (Lake Taylor High School, VA) was the leading scorer with 27 points. The Jersey Blues return to action Tuesday, November 24th when they open Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference play at home against Atlantic Cape. Tip off is at 5:00 p.m.
