2010 Recap
In its second year of existence, head coach Lauren Williams had lofty goals for her squad. Teamwork and perseverance forged the women’s lacrosse team into unchartered territory when they ended the season with four wins – doubling their total from the inaugural year. Teetering around the .500 mark all season, the team posted back-to-back victories on the
road over CCBC-Essex and Broom College in their opening road trip. Facing some of the top teams in the Nation, Williams is particularly proud of the way the team battled against established programs throughout the season.
Perhaps the greatest addition to the 2010 team was freshman attack Kimberly Simon (Neptune, NJ/St. Rose). The tenacious forward posted a team-high 24 goals. She set the program record for single-game goals (5) against Howard.
Next year, the team will be without the senior leadership of Lena Pingatore (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and Jenni Ulejczyk (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) (pictured right). Pingatore’s strength was her speed – as you could find her often times back defending, and scooping a ground ball to sprint the length of the field and score in a matter of seconds. Ulejczyk, however, was more of a finesse player on offense, finding the corners of the net.
