Currently planning an English 122 themed research class with Associate Professor Marcia Krefetz-Levine. Our focus: "Global Humanity: Exploring Genocide Around the World. In this course, students will set out to answer their own questions about genocide and use valuable sources on the Brookdale campus, including the Center for Holocaust Studies, to discover answers to their questions. Finally, by incorporating books, documentaries and film into their research, students will be able to reflect on causes and effects of genocide and determine possible strategies for preventing future atrocities."
Currently developing a learning community with Counselor Marlena Frank; We are combining English 095 with the HUDV 107 Student Success class. ENGL-095/HUDV-107 is a dynamic learning community that combines the traditional ENGL-095 basic writing skills course with the HUDV-107 Freshman Success Seminar. The learning community will provide an interactive environment in which students will identify and practice skills to foster the development of a successful college student. Writing skills will be emphasized and students will be expected to write clear, grammatically correct prose by the completion of the course. While enhancing writing techniques, students will explore and develop personal, academic and career goals. Career assessments, critical thinking, academic planning, stress management and introduction to Brookdale's student resources will be reviewed and discussed.
Presented at the 28th Annual Colloquium for the Center For Holocaust Studies; Workshop title: "Studying Genocide Through Art."
