Dear PSA Members,

Two things about the classification study:

You must be compensated for time spent in the classification meetings held this past week. If you end work at 2:00, for example, but attended a meeting that lasted until 2:30, include that extra half hour on your time exemption report.

You must also be paid for the time you spend completing the survey. Your supervisor should arrange a time for you to complete the survey during your normal working hours OR pay you overtime for completing it during non-work hours.

Get paid for your work.

Best,
Sarah

Dear Members:

By now you have received notice of meetings the College will hold regarding the classification study it has hired a consultant to conduct. Attend one, and, if time is allowed for questions, ask questions.

You have also received a survey regarding your position’s tasks and responsibilities. Complete the survey accurately and with as much detail as possible. Do all you can to make clear the tasks and responsibilities you are required to complete in your position.

The College says it has undertaken the study to determine whether jobs are placed in the proper category and pay band for the responsibilities of each position.

Important: If the College wants to implement or take action on any results that come from the study, it will have to negotiate with PSA in order to do so. Our contract applies, always.

On a related matter: the contract provisions regarding reclassification are still in effect. The College must continue to accept and consider all reclassification requests.

Any supervisor or HR representative who tells you otherwise is wrong.

If you believe that your position merits reclassification, start and continue the process. For forms and information, go to the HR website.

Best,

Sarah Morgan
