Barbara Baron Speech Communication ProfessorBarbara Baron is an Associate Professor in the Speech Department, after being awarded tenure in 2001.  Barbara is currently the Division Chair for the Arts and Communication Division after serving for two years as the Department Chair for the Performing Arts Department.  She holds a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Montclair State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music from Monmouth University.  Professor Baron has been performing as the solo-vocalist with the Brookdale Big Band since it's inception in 1986.  Professor Baron primarily teaches multiple sections of the Public Speaking class (SPCH 115) at the college, and she developed an online section of SPCH 115 which allows greater access to the course for those who have scheduling challenges and/or are successful with independent learning.  Professor Baron was the co-advisor to Alpha Pi Theta, Brookdale Community College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two year colleges.  Professor Baron is currently the President of the International Forensics Association and she hosts an inter-collegiate speech and debate tournament in a different host country each year, and she is a regular contributor for the National Communication Association.
