Dan Leyes
Assistant Professor
Dan Leyes earned his B.A. from St. John’s University in 1986, majoring in Speech and Psychology, with a minor in Human Communication. He was awarded a Graduate Fellowship from Southern Illinois University, where he completed his Masters degree in Speech Communication with concentrations in the philosophy of communication and communication education. Before his arrival at Brookdale in 1999, he taught at St. John’s University for seven years where he also coached their intercollegiate Speech and Debate team. He has directed Brookdale’s award winning Forensics team since 2000, continuing the college’s long history of success in Intercollegiate Speech and Debate competition. He is Secretary of the Collegiate Forensics Association and serves on the District Committee for the American Forensics Association, District VII. In his spare time, Dan enjoys writing songs, spending time with family and friends, and rooting for his beloved Mets and Jets.
