Cathy Blackburn

Associate Professor

Professor Cathy Blackburn has been with Brookdale Community College for 18 years this fall. She has a B.A. degree in Speech Communication from Monmouth University and a Masters in Speech Communication from New York University. She has taken postgraduate courses at Rutgers University in Communication, Information and Library Sciences. She enjoys teaching a variety of courses including Effective Speech, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication and Conversation Strategies for the Non-Native Speaker. Her areas of interest in Communication Studies include communication apprehension, gender studies and intercultural communication patterns. Her hobbies include reading, reading, reading and gardening – especially Jersey tomatoes.
