The Brookdale International Center is the point of contact for students who wish to study abroad and for all international students studying at Brookdale who wish to participate in intercultural activities and/or want to join the International Student Association.
Study Abroad
The International Center offers a wide variety of exciting study abroad programs in more than 30 countries all over the world. Whether you want to study French in Québec, Spanish in Ecuador or History in Scotland - the International Center has the right program for you!
Program Length: 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks or a whole semester
Courses: Almost all areas of study are represented in our programs
Credits: Depending on the length of the program, you earn 3-15 credits that transfer to your Brookdale transcript
Housing arrangements: You live in a student dormitory, apartment or in a family homestay, depending on the specific program you choose.
Price: Prices vary, depending on length and destination (approx. $2,000 - $10,000). Financial aid does apply so stop by the Financial Aid Office in the CAR building to inquire about what you are eligible for.

Who can study abroad?
• Students (Brookdale or any other US college/university) who have completed 12 credits prior to study abroad
• Students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (for semester programs only; some programs require 2.9 or 3.0 GPA)
• Students who are at least 18 years old
Brookdale Faculty-Led Short-Term Programs
In cooperation with Brookdale professors, the International Center runs several 10 to 14-day programs abroad every year, which are led by a Brookdale faculty member.
A Brookdale course is taught on the program, plus:
• You earn 3 college credits
• No minimum GPA is required
• You must be 18 years of age
Recent programs include studying African American Literature and History in Ghana, World War II history in England, Irish Literature in Ireland, and World History in Japan.
International Festival
Every year, the International Center organizes the International Festival for the Brookdale community. The Festival consists of several events that celebrate and foster intercultural understanding and provide interesting insights into other cultures and countries. Events include lectures by Brookdale faculty members, international movies, food exchanges and presentations by Brookdale international students.
International Student Association and International Student Services
The International Center works closely with the International Student Association and supports its members in organizing the Association's annual calendar of events and activities. The Center also assists F1 visa students by issuing their I-20’s, offering support and advice, and helping to make their adjustment to New Jersey an easy one.
