ASID Student ChapterDesign delights, inspires, supports, transforms and heals. The American Society of Interior Design in a community of people committed to excellence in design. Their members include professional interior designers, interior design educators, industry representatives and interior design students. Brookdale Community College is pleased to include its ASID Student Chapter among the many students and professionals dedicated to design in the service of people. Our ASID Student Chapter has been involved in several community service projects, including the Monmouth County SPCA Annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair, the Embrace Kids Foundation fundraiser to support the needs of families whose children have cancer and blood disorders, as well as, the Stately Homes By-the-Sea Designer Showhouse presented by the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey. Our monthly meetings host an array of dynamic speakers to inspire and inform our student body. Past speakers have included: Denny Daikeler, Allied ASID author of "What Color is Your Slipcover?", Eli Dweck of Eli Dweck Designs, who was recently featured in New York Spaces Magazine as one of "10 New Designers to Watch", and Neil McCaffrey, a representative from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). ASID inspires and enriches its members and the interior design profession by providing indispensable knowledge, experiences and relationships. National and local student competitions and scholarship opportunities keep our creative juices flowing. This year, our own Lauren Ann Johnson placed 3rd in the anual NJASID Paul Gutkin Memorial Student Competition with her tropical inspired internet cafe!
