Meet one-on-one with a professional career counselor to explore occupational options and choices. Select a program to meet your needs:
Career Crossroads is a four-session* career counseling program where individuals meet with a certified career counselor to explore occupational options and choices. By analyzing interests, skills, abilities, values and goals, understand who you are and what you want out of life and a career. More importantly, with Career Crossroads, get the support you need to make job and lifestyle decisions and find the answers already within you.
Career Crossroads is for individuals at every stage of adult work-life:
- Explorers, 20-something entry level career seekers who need to learn about themselves, their place in the world of work, and how to negotiate career decisions.
- 30-something Transitioners, already fairly established in the world of work but who may be floundering in it with some trial-and-error starts and changes.
- Mid-lifers, fairly advanced in a career but who experience frustration and a readiness to make a career change to something more in line with an internal sense of self.
- Pre-retirees and Retirees, who are thinking about disengagement from the world of work and see many exciting possibilities or may be feeling a sense of despair.
Over four sessions, three in-person sessions and one telephone session — you and a certified career counselor review how you perceive yourself at work, school and home to help you understand what is desirable for you. Another important component is the setting of goals and priorities.
Testing is used as an additional tool to aid you and the counselor in exploring choices and your future based on your abilities and skills, interests and the local and global marketplace.
In Career Crossroads, five tests are administered: Myers Briggs Type Indicator-Career Report, Strong Interest Inventory, Firo-B Workplace Indicator, The John Holland Self-Directed Search and the Career Value Sort.
Depending upon your discussions with the counselor, you may wish to explore additional topics such as career information, career pathing, resume writing and cover letters, interviewing and career marketing.
Fee: $595
