Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of Governmental Affairs and Community Relations is to enhance and promote, through continued relationship building on all levels of government and engagement within our communities, the strategic initiatives and programs of Brookdale Community College. The office serves as the primary avenue of contact with government officials, policy makers and community stakeholders.

Civic Engagement Grant Program

The Civic Engagement Grant is sponsored by the Office of Governmental Affairs and Community Relations to promote student interaction and advocacy projects and initiatives. A one-time grant is provided to a BCC Student Life & Activities recognized student organization that is engaged in activities and/or outreach projects connecting to the community, giving back and using their education to help make our world a better place. Interested? We encourage group leaders to contact the Office of Governmental Affairs and Community Relations for more information about the program and application procedure.

Eligibility / Application Requirements

  • Recognized club or organization – in good standing – under the guidelines and requirements of the Brookdale Office of Student Life and Activities.
  • Participate in an approved program and/or activity that promotes civic engagement, advocacy or policy development on the State, Federal or Global level.
  • Submit a completed application form that outlines the program/activity, goals of participation and proposed impact(s) for the Brookdale community and society at-large
  • Present program overview, findings and outcomes, in a public forum, at Brookdale Community College (and other venues as appropriate)
