What brought you to Brookdale?
I always had a strong desire to work at the college level. Teaching became a passion by chance – essentially one class and I was hooked.
Describe one or more of your biggest achievements as a Brookdale faculty member:
I am a club co-advisor and have taken students to attend and present at forums and conferences, including a recent human services conference that we hosted at Brookdale. As coordinator of the human services programs I have pushed for accreditation to provide courses leading to certification as a drug and alcohol counselor, and I am currently working to secure accreditation of our human services programs. i have also worked to secure articulation agreement with Rutgers and Monmouth Universities.
Do you work outside of the college?
I have a small private practice in West Long Branch where I provide mental health therapy. I have also served on the National Board of the National Organization for Human Services.
What would you say is your most memorable moment – or moments – as a member of the Brookdale community?
Our club hosts a regular event called “Where are They Now?” where we bring back former graduates to discuss their many accomplishments. This always reminds me of why we do the work that we do.
What do you think separates Brookdale from other colleges?
My students tell me time and again that they feel completely prepared and even sometimes more prepared than their classmates at their transfer institutions. Brookdale provides a quality education.
