Two Brookdale Community College alumni displayed their fashion and style in the 2019 Atlantic City Fashion Show which took place in February at The Showboat Hotel.
Cynthia Matthews-Duran won the student showcase completion last year. Judges cited the unconventional placement and uses of the common zipper in her designs. Her entry in the 2019 Fashion Week is an evolution from her first collection. The Wall Township native earned her associate’s degree in fashion merchandising from Brookdale in 2018 and is now pursuing an associate’s degree in design from FIT.
“My designs this year will be even more refined, wearable and visually interesting,” said Matthews-Duran.
Melanie Wexler earned her associate’s degree in fashion merchandising last year. The Howell resident originally came to Brookdale to study nursing but later discovered her passion for fashion.
“Coming back to Brookdale to get my degree in fashion merchandising was the best decision I ever made,” said Wexler.
Her entries in this year’s show include dresses, from bridal to wedding and event attire. While at Brookdale, Wexler participated in the Student Fashion Show.
