37th Annual Education Open Golf Outing Set for Sept. 15
Peter Grandich to Be Honored

The Brookdale Community College Foundation’s Education Open Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, September 15 at Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ.

The annual event helps to raise funds for the “Building Minds, Building Futures” scholarship fund.

Our honoree this year is Peter Grandich, President/CEO of Peter Grandich and Co. Joining Grandich at the event will be longtime friends and colleagues Joe Klecko, former Jets Defensive lineman; Jeff Feagles, NY Giants Super Bowl Champion; Grant Marshall, of the 2-time Stanley Cup winning NJ Devils; and NY Rangers fan favorite Nick Fotiu.

Education Open participants will have the opportunity to play Eagle Oak’s 18-hole championship golf course – a Johnny Miller Signature Design, in association with Golden Bear Associates. Other amenities include an elegant 60,000 square-foot clubhouse and golf shop with a southern colonial charm.

The day begins with a mega buffet brunch beginning at 10 AM followed by an 11:30 AM single shotgun start with full scramble format.

Golfers will compete for a variety of individual and team golf prizes including the chance to win a brand new car courtesy of Circle Infiniti. A pre-dinner reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be followed by an awards dinner with a lavish buffet and open bar. Presentation of awards for the Individual and Team golf prizes, Best Gross Team Score, and Best Calloway Team Score, special prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive for men and women, blind skins, pot-o-gold plus a 50/50 cash raffle and silent and live auctions will fill the evening.

Peter Grandich, President/CEO of Peter Grandich and Co., will be honored during the dinner. Peter Grandich & Company provides business, retirement and estate planning services to individuals, business owners and professional athletes. His autobiography, Confessions of a Wall Street Whiz Kid, was published in 2011. In 2013, Grandich founded the Athletes & Business Alliance, a private organization of professional athletes and business executives who exchange ideas and build relationships with an emphasis on capitalizing on the talents of all involved.

Grandich supports many charitable organizations including the Feal Good Foundation, the Foodbank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, and the Ashley Lauren Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Catholic Athletes for Christ. He resides here in New Jersey with his wife, Mary, and daughter, Tara.

Joining Grandich at the dinner will be longtime friends and colleagues Joe Klecko and Nick Fotiu.

Klecko was a defensive lineman who played for the Jets and made the Pro Bowl at three different positions. He is in the Jets’ Ring of Honor and his No. 73 has long been retired. Fotiu is a retired National Hockey League (NHL) forward, and is the first professional hockey player from Staten Island to play for the NHL’s New York Rangers. He began his career in 1973 and played for the Rangers, Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers and the Edmonton Oilers during his 17-year career.

“The Brookdale Education Open is a first-class golf outing at a premier golf course with proceeds funding scholarships for Brookdale students who do not qualify for federal or state aid but still have financial need and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA,” stated Tina E Munson, partner in Lomurro, Munson, Comer, Brown & Schottland in Freehold, and event Co-Chair with Domenick Servodio ofTD Bank. “Support of this event is an investment in the success of students who go on to be contributing members of our communities,” she added.

The Golf Outing fundraiser helps to provide the financial resources to carry out the work of the Brookdale Foundation, a non-profit organization. Its mission is to help students achieve their dream of earning a college degree.
