Harvest of Empire on Tuesday, February 27 from 11:30 AM–1:15 PM in MAN 105.
This powerful film “exposes the direct connection between the long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America and the immigration crisis we face today . . .” (IMDb). Dr. Zampogna-Krug will lead a discussion at the conclusion of the film. Sponsored by the International Education Center, Student Life & Activities, and the Dreamers+ Club.

Crossing Borders: Expectations vs. Reality on Thursday, March 29, from 11:30 AM–1:15 PM in MAN 105
Hear stories and insights from a panel of international, immigrant, and US study-abroad students. This diverse and well-traveled group will share what they learned while adjusting to life in another country. Panel facilitated by Professor Daijuan Gao. Sponsored by the International Education Center.

Healing Through a Survivor’s Eyes on Monday, April 2 from 7 – 9 PM in the Warner Student Life Center
Professor Marc Bonagura, Director of Brookdale’s Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution, will facilitate a discussion and presentation based on the work of Leslie Schwartz, a survivor of Auschwitz and Dachau. Schwartz has spent the past ten summers educating German and international students about his healing journey, as he fulfills his mission to promote greater understanding, unity, and peace among all people. Sponsored by the Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution.

Refuge: Literary Readings from Diverse Writers on Wednesday, April 4 from 7 – 9 PM in the Warner Center
In this specially-themed Visiting Writers Series reading, Elena Georgiou and Haroon Moghul will read from their published works and respond to audience questions. Georgiou is an award winning poet and author of the short-story collection The Immigrant’s Refrigerator. Moghul, who works in various global organizations, is the author of How to Be a Muslim: An American Story. Sponsored by the Visiting Writers Series, The Creative Writing Club, Student Life & Activities, and the International Education Center.

International Festival: Unity in Diversity on Thursday, April 12, from 11:30 AM – 1 PM in the Warner Center
Enjoy interactive exhibits, cultural music, and ethnic food as the International Student Association celebrates the many countries represented at Brookdale. Sponsored by International Education Center, International Students Association, and Student Life & Activities.
