LINCROFT, NJ (Dec. 9, 2016) – For the sixteenth year in a row, 90.5 The Night has taken top honors among area radio stations at the annual Asbury Park Music Awards ceremony, held this year on Dec. 8 at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

Brookdale Public Radio was once again named “Top Radio Station in Support of Live Music,” an honor it has claimed every year since 2001. Brookdale student and on-air personality Megan O’Shea was also named “Top Radio Personality in Support of Live Music,” while long-time 90.5 The Night disc jockey Rich Robinson received the Asbury Park Music Awards’ prestigious Living Legend Award.

“We are delighted to win this award again,” said station manager Tom Brennan, thanking the supporters and fans who voted for the station in the run-up to this year’s awards ceremony.

“Our service to the local community is something we are proud of, and our support of local music is a huge part of that.”

Over the past four decades, The Night has earned a reputation for backing the efforts of local artists, giving unsigned musicians a platform to be heard and helping them reach new audiences beyond Monmouth County, Brennan said.

The station’s free “Songwriters on the Beach” concert series, which pairs local musicians with national acts each summer on the Belmar boardwalk, was also nominated for the Asbury Park Music Awards’ “Best Thing to Happen in 2015/16” honor.
