LINCROFT, NJ (Nov. 1, 2016) – Community members interested in a new career are invited to attend an open house for Brookdale Community College’s new massage therapy training program, held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 on the college’s Lincroft campus.
Attendees will be able to meet with experts and learn more about Brookdale’s nine-month massage therapy training program, which prepares students to become licensed massage therapists in the state of New Jersey. Due to new state and federal grant funding, the training program is being offered for a reduced price in 2017. Financial aid is also available.
The program, running from January to September 2017, is taught by industry professionals and includes 100 hours of supervised clinical training.
Course topics include Swedish massage, shiatsu, reflexology, sports massage, aromatherapy and other specialties as well as general courses in hygiene, ethics and business practices. The program also includes a comprehensive review for the New Jersey Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for massage therapists was $18.29 per hour in 2015. Employment in the industry is projected to grow by 22 percent between 2014 and 2024.
