Twenty-five students and three teachers from Qingdao Academy in the Shandong province of China are studying culture, science, art and gaming at Brookdale’s summer camps from July 20 to August 6. The students range in age from 12 to 14. For nearly all the students, this is their first visit to the United States.
While in the United States, the students will also visit Washington, DC and Boston, stopping at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for tours.
New Jersey and Shandong in China participate in the sister states program. The students visit to Brookdale aims to enhance the ongoing relationship. Jonathan Chu of JOMI International Inc., Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Deputy Mayor Terry Lau of Marlboro coordinated the program with Brookdale’s Linda Martin, director of lifelong learning, Continuing and Professional Studies.
