What is the new Career Studio?
The NEW Career Studio is an open space on the second floor of the Bankier Library (Room 226) on the Lincroft Campus, where students can drop-in during the week to speak with a Career Peer about career exploration, resume reviews, mock interviews, interview skills, leadership skills, job searching, and internship searching. This is a great way to meet with a career expert on a drop-in basis! The Career Studio has varying hours every semester, check the website more information! The hours are also posted outside the Career Studio room.
Who are Career Peers?
Career Peers serve as a resource for students who would like assistance with career exploration (utilizing online resources such as Ferguson’s, Occupational Outlook Handbook, O*NET, and FOCUS 2). Career Peers lead students through this exploration. Career Peers are also trained to assist students with resume reviews, interview skills and mock interviews, and general information about careers, the Career & Leadership Development department, etc. Career Peers are your resource for career information on campus!
How can I become a Career Peer?
If you are interested in becoming a Career Peer for the 2019-2020 academic year, we welcome your application! The link to apply is below, and will be posted on the website as well! Career Peers need to be currently enrolled students in a degree-seeking program. Career Peers also typically have had some interaction with our office in the past including an internship, resume review, mock interview, attendance at a workshop, member of NSLS, in-class presentation, student employee, etc.
How was the Career Studio funded?
The Career Studio was funded by the Community College Opportunity Grant! This generous funding from the state enabled our department to create a new, updated space for peer mentoring, career exploration, and internship/job search assistance.
