January 31st at 11:45am Work Hard, Have Fun & Make Money This interactive, virtual workshop will focus on 2023 and plan for a 1) Vision and Dreams 2) Set a SMART Goal and draft 3) Value and Balance. February 2nd at 12:00pm Student Employment and Internship Student Meet & Greet Current and prospective student employees and interns will have an opportunity to share experiences and review how to best highlight their experiences on LinkedIn and resume. February 8th at 11:00am LinkedIn 101 | Introduction Workshop Join this virtual workshop to learn more about how to create a LinkedIn profile or have your current profile reviewed. This will be an interactive workshop and participants are encouraged to share their challenges and successes when using the LinkedIn platform. RSVP HERE

February 16th at 11:30am American Style Resume & Handshake Workshop Join this hybrid workshop to review resume formatting best practices and how to search and apply to opportunities on Handshake. February 23rd at 11:30am Headshots and Dippin Dots Register for this event to have your headshot taken and enjoy some Dippin Dots! A headshot is part of your professional brand and is a must when developing your LinkedIn or Handshake profile. This is highly recommended for second-semester students looking to apply to internship and employment opportunities, but all are welcome to register. March 3rd JC Penney SUIT UP Event Career, Leadership, and Transfer Pathways is partnering with JCPenney (online and in-person at the Freehold Mall location) for a SUIT UP event full of savings and guidance on dressing for success! JCPenney will offer deeply discounted professional clothing, accessories, and shoes to Brookdale students, alumni, and employees. Join us as we kickoff this event at the Freehold Mall location on Friday, March 3 beginning at 12:00pm! This event will be held online all weekend. September 15 at 11:45am Involvement Fair on the SLC Patio Join us at the Student Life & Activities Involvement Fair. Participating in clubs and organizations is not only an excellent way to meet people but it is also a great way to develop career competencies and boost your resume! No registration required.

September 20 at 11:30am LibraryCON Join us at the LibraryCON event in the Bankier Library. There will be food, games, prizes, and more! No registration required.

September 21 at 10:00am* – 1:00pm Monmouth County Job Fair in the Robert J. Collins Arena Monmouth County Workforce Development is hosting an in-person Job Fair. Network with local employers and learn about internship and part-time employment opportunities. Currently enrolled students: make sure you set up an appointment with us to have your resume reviewed before you go! No registration required *10:00am – 11:00pm open to Persons with Disabilities and Veterans. 11:00am – 1:00pm open for everyone.

October 4 at 12:00pm Get Focused: Using the Focus 2 Focus 2 is a great, online resource offered to currently enrolled Brookdale students! You can take several career assessments regarding your interests, values, strengths, and several other areas. These assessments will help you narrow down your academic major and career choices, so that you can make an informed decision! During the workshop, you will register your Focus 2 account and review the features of the platform. October 18 at 11:45am NSLS presents Domestic Violence 180NJ Special Speaker The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is hosting a Domestic Violence event on 10/18/22 at 11:45 a.m. with a speaker from 180nj. The speaker will review domestic violence, review example cases, and discuss NJ laws that protect against domestic violence. October 25 at 12:00pm Internships 101: The “What” and “Why” Join this info session to learn more regarding the importance of incorporating an internship within your Brookdale experience. What is an internship? An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths, and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent. Whether non-credit or credit-bearing, internships are essential for your career readiness development! A lawyer, professor, and leading figure in the fight for women’s rights, Anita Hill recently published the profound book Believing: Our Thirty-Year Journey to End Gender Violencewhich she will discuss during the broadcast. She’ll also talk about the path she took to become a leader, offering her tips and advice. This event is open to all Brookdale students and is highly recommended for current NSLS members or students looking to learn more about joining NSLS. November 8 at 11:45am LaPora Lindsey- Career Perspectives & Resume Writing La Pora Lindsey, career coach & resume writer, will discuss NACE career competencies and how to incorporate transferable skills for veterans and all students on your resume. Attendees will learn how to demonstrate the importance of seemingly minor actions and how they contribute to something greater. November 18 at 10:00 am Internships 102: How to Secure an Internship Join this info session to learn how to develop your strategy to search, apply, and secure an internship. Did you know? “A survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers indicates that the starting salary for college graduates who completed a paid internship and were employed in a private, for-profit company was $53,521, while those who didn’t complete an internship started with an average of only $38,572. The same study found that 72.2% of college graduates with internship experience got a job offer, in contrast to 36.5% for those who didn’t complete one. Do you get nervous speaking in public? Are you afraid of rejection and not sure how to overcome it? I’m Kelly Ripa of ABC’s Live with Kelly and Ryan, and I’m excited to join the NSLS to share some of the lessons I’ve learned throughout my career working in television. Entertainment, like any other industry, can be highly competitive, and rejection is part of the norm. I’ll talk about the importance of overcoming rejection and how you can turn things around to achieve your goals. I look forward to discussing the many experiences that helped me navigate over 30 years in media, including tips for more effective public speaking and true stories from my latest book Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories. December 6 at 12:00pm Lessons in Leadership: Robin Roberts NSLS Guest Speaker Broadcast National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS) Speaker Broadcasts are video interviews of influential, prominent figures sharing their personal stories of leadership and success with our community and world. Robin Roberts overcame many obstacles to become the anchor for the number one morning show in America. Add a medical odyssey on top of sustaining professional excellence, and you have what seems like an insurmountable situation. What was her secret to pushing through and continuing to achieve her goals? Staying positive. “You need to change the way you think in order to change the way you feel,” she said. Shifting your mindset is important when battling adversity. December 20 at 12:00pm Lessons in Leadership: Trevor Noah NSLS Guest Speaker Broadcast National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS) Speaker Broadcasts are video interviews of influential, prominent figures sharing their personal stories of leadership and success with our community and world. Trevor Noah is the host of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Noah’s first book, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, became an instant New York Times bestseller. The book is a collection of personal stories about growing up in South Africa during apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that came with its demise. Noah turns his focus inward, giving readers an intimate look at the world that shaped him. In his talk Noah shared with members lessons learned from his personal experiences and offering advice to students for identifying and following their passions.
