August 30 at 10:00am – 1:00pm Career Startup: Set Your Career Readiness Foundations Join us for “Career Startup: Set Your Career Readiness Foundations,” a pre-semester event designed exclusively for beginning college students like you! Taking place on August 30th from 10am to 1pm, this event is packed with activities and resources to kickstart your career journey. Get ready to network and make connections with the Career, Leadership & Transfer Pathways team during a Meet & Greet from 10 am to 10:30 am. Learn about the valuable resources and support available to you throughout your college experience. Following that, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, we will introduce you to Focus 2, an innovative career readiness platform. Register and complete a worksheet that will guide you in discovering your strengths, interests, and career paths. Afterwards, it’s time to update your professional image! From 11:00am to 12:00pm, photographers will be on-site to capture your headshots. Plus, enjoy some food as you mingle with other students who are equally excited about developing a career pathway. At 12:00 pm, we will guide you through the process of creating a profile on Handshake, the best platform to launch your career and connect with potential employers and internship/job opportunities. Lastly, from 12:30 pm to 1pm, engage in a fun and interactive sidewalk chalk activity while developing short-term (semester) career goals. This hands-on exercise will help you visualize and set milestones for your career journey while also interacting with fellow Brookdale students. RSVP HERE

September 7 at 12:00pm Student Employment Orientation – This orientation session is exclusively for students who have been offered student employment. (Note: You cannot begin working until you have completed this onboarding orientation. During the orientation, you will receive comprehensive information about the policies, procedures, and expectations associated with your student employment position. You will be guided through important topics such as time entry, professional conduct, career readiness, and I-9/W-4 paperwork. Please review the I-9 list of approved ID documents to bring to your orientation. You will also need to bring a voided check that is associated with your personal checking account (must have your name printed). Note: This is a group orientation meeting. Please email career@brookdalecc.edu if you wish to schedule a one-on-one orientation or submit any questions you may have. RSVP HERE 

September 13 at 10:00am Student Employment Information Session Are you looking for a part-time job on or off-campus that aligns with your schedule and helps you gain essential career readiness skills? Join our Student Employment Information Session! Finding the right employment while juggling your studies can be a challenge, but we’re here to guide you through the process. Don’t miss out on this chance to enhance your college experience and boost your employability! September 19 at 12:00pm Johnson & Johnson Internship Information Session Join this information session to learn more about internship opportunities with Johnson & Johnson including a Summer 2024 Finance Internship (the J&J Internship Program is a full time 10-week program focused on providing college students with practical business experience. It allows participants to develop leadership skills, broaden their understanding of the concepts learned in school and “get a taste of the real world” before they are fully committed to it. Internship program participant roles may include Financial Planning & Analysis, Commercial Finance, Supply Chain Finance, Research & Development Finance, Internal Audit, Tax and other finance areas.) September 21 at 11:45am – 1:15pm Focus 2 Career Workshop Focus 2 is a great online resource offered to currently enrolled Brookdale students! You can take several career assessments regarding your interests, values, strengths, and several other areas. These assessments will help you narrow down your academic major and career choices, so that you can make an informed decision! During the workshop, you will register your Focus 2 account and review the features of the platform. This workshop is open for all current Brookdale students and is highly recommended for first semester students. RSVP HERE

October 5 at 11:45am – 1:15pm American Style Resume & Handshake Presentation Join this presentation to review resume formatting best practices and how to search and apply to opportunities on Handshake. This workshop will be held within a computer lab and via Zoom for attendees to actively develop their resumes. October 12 at 11:45am – 1:15pm Creating Career S.M.A.R.T. Goals Are you a college student eager to take charge of your career journey in a fun and interactive way? Join our exciting workshop on “Creating Career SMART Goals” and participate in a sidewalk chalk activity to visualize and set short-term career milestones! About the Workshop: Setting SMART goals is essential for your college success and future career. In this unique workshop, we’ll guide you through crafting Career SMART Goals and help you create a clear roadmap to achieve your dreams. But that’s not all!
