Android Developer

The Android Developer course explores the fundamentals of design for mobile devices that run the Android operating system. Using the resources of developer.android.com, the course curriculum teaches the process of app creation in the Android Studio environment.  The course includes a final project requirement where the participants will have designed a basic mobile app by the course’s conclusion and be able to install the app on their mobile device.

The course requires:

  • A Windows, Mac, or Linux operating system-based computer capable of running the latest version of Android Studio.
  • A broad band internet connection capable of downloading the required developer files
  • Current versions of the Chrome, Firefox or Safari web browsers

The course is taught entirely online with the class materials available continuously and instructional modules released each week for the 6-week duration of the course.

Apple Mobile Application Development Certificate

Do you have an idea for a new mobile application but not sure where to begin with development? The Apple Mobile Application Development Certificate will teach you what you need to know to develop a mobile application for Apple products. There are three courses included in the series: iOS Design, Swift, and tvOS/watchOS Design. iOS Design

iOS Design is the first course in the Apple Mobile Application Development series.  This course explores the fundamentals of iOS design for mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad.

Included in this course is a student developer membership to developer.apple.com where the class participants gain access to all of Apple’s release software development materials, tutorials, example files and documentation for mobile devices. The course includes a final project requirement where the participants will have designed a basic mobile app by the course’s conclusion and be able to install the app on their mobile device.

The course requires:

  • A Macintosh computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.15 or above (Catalina).
  • An iOS device capable of running iOS release 13 or above.
  • A broad band internet connection capable of downloading the required developer files.

Successful completion of this course is required for the succeeding Swift and tvOS/watchOS classes. The course is taught entirely online with the class materials available continuously and instructional modules released each week for the 6-week duration of the course.

Swift

Swift is the second course in the Apple Mobile Application Development series.  This course explores the back-end programming language for iOS, Swift.

Included in this course is a student developer membership to developer.apple.com where the class participants gain access to all of Apple’s release software development materials, tutorials, example files and documentation for programming mobile devices. Using the developer and programmer resources at developer.apple.com, the participant will learn the foundational skills to begin to program in the Swift language. The course includes a final project requirement where the participants will have programmatically implemented features into a created mobile app. That app should be installed and functioning on an iOS device.

The course requires:

  • A Macintosh computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.15 or above (Catalina).
  • The latest versions of Xcode.
  • An iOS device capable of running iOS release 13 or above.
  • A broad band internet connection capable of downloading the required developer files.

Successful completion of this course is required for the succeeding tvOS/watchOS class. The course is taught entirely online with the class materials available continuously and instructional modules released each week for the 6-week duration of the course.

tvOS/watchOS Design

This is the third course in the Apple Mobile Application Development series.  This course explores the fundamentals of iOS design for Apple Watch devices and the 4th generation Apple TV.

Included in this course is a student developer membership to developer.apple.com where the class participants gain access to all of Apple’s release software development materials, tutorials, example files and documentation for mobile devices and Apple Watch and for the Apple TV. The course includes a final project requirement where the participants will have designed an app using by the course’s conclusion and be able to install the app on their Apple Watch or Xcode Simulator and an app for the Apple TV using the Apple TV Markup Language.

The course requires:

  • A Macintosh computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.15 or above (Catalina).
  • An iOS device capable of running iOS release 13 or above.
  • The latest version of Xcode.
  • TVMLKit.
  • A broad band internet connection capable of downloading the required developer files.

The course is taught entirely online with the class materials available continuously and instructional modules released each week for the 6-week duration of the course.
