Leading to the AWS SENSE Training: Entry Level Welder – Level I Certification, the Brookdale Community College Structural Construction training program provides students with a thorough knowledge of skills and concepts used in the structural construction field including post to footing, post to beam, beam to joists, beam to beam plates and rafter plate to beam connections. These same structural components are also often fabricated prior to their use in the field. In addition, these skills are utilized in steel fabrication and equipment repair.
Training covers welding skills, safety, building materials, hand and power tools, construction drawings, welding drawings, blueprint reading, ceiling joist, and roof framing.
Students will learn about construction fabrication and welding processes and how to use welding equipment and construction tools as well as study topics that include:
- Hand & Power Tools
- Construction & Welding Drawings
- Building Materials
- Blueprint Readings
- Gas metal arc welding, (TIG, MIG, Stick)
- Construction and Welding fabrication

AWS S.E.N.S.E. Welding Certification Exam
